1 year ago PublicThis is what this Women on Wings community platform is all about: connecting social enterprises so they can learn, get inspired and share best practices. We are extremely pleased to see our partners AVANI from Uttarakhand and ACTION CENTER FOR TRANSFORMATION (ACT) from Haryana, come together in Haryana for a workshop on natural coloring conducted by Avani's Delhi team.
Avani is known for e.g. handmade knits and weaves, and its organic dyes and ACT for its home and lifestyle products made from recycled paper waste. Both social enterprises focus on creating livelihoods for women in rural areas and it is a pleasure to work with both on the realization of their goals.
A wonderful example of cocreation! -

Recently we have our analysis on "The food materials that we are wasting" after procurement from the farmer. As said it not even 1% wastage from our traditional kitchen that does into the garbage.
No surprise it is "Zero".
In year 2019-2020, there was few situation where we have to throw our Dry nuts & Seeds which was almost 3% of our procurement. However a strategy and a stubborn decision of procuring low quantities at higher price from the farmer gave us Zero wastage by the year 2022.
Although need some good reach to support more the farmers and create more employment in the rural areas our simple and steady strategies are working incredible in achieving the universal goal SDG-12.
Soon we will make your jaws drop by procuring more from the farmer but Zero wastage industrial kitchens are possible with our unique strategies.

Knitting Huts Private Limited posted
1 year ago PublicHello Everyone,
We are Knitting Huts!
We are a For Profit Social Enterprise working with rural women of Himachal Pradesh to develop premium hand-knitted products for humans and their homes.
We take orders for our international clients as well to produce under their labels using yarns like Pure Cotton, Organic Cotton, Pure Silk, Cashmere, Yak, Angora, Mohair, Merino and Sheep Wools.
Our products are listed on etsy.com at the moment and our website is under the works.
We are a fairly new organization in social enterprise arena and have had great experiences in the short span of time working with talented rural populations of the region. We truly believe that the art of hand-knitting is still under utilized when it comes to upliftment of handicrafts industry as a whole. We see a lot of weaving work, bamboo work, wood carving, embroidery and block printing but hand-knitting, for some reason, lags far behind.
We are working towards streamlining the hand-knitting industry and making premium hand-knits cool again!

How can you help your team steer clear of this trap and keep fresh ideas alive?

Such childhood days developed the curiosity about our traditions & made me to thrive for more & more on lost traditions of this world leading the journey of #handcrafting Nutreat and it was my #Dad who sowed the seed of traditional India & its heritage for a radiant life.
The day we were at HITEX (Hyderabad International Trade Expositions Limited) many such kids pounding with curiosity after seeing the #stonegrinder reminded myself at age 10
